Why News Articles Matter
Section titled “Why News Articles Matter”Not every relevant incident is announced by a ransomware actor. Some cases are:
- publicly reported before an actor claims responsibility
- never claimed by a known group
- connected to third-party exposure rather than a direct victim claim
- described in regulatory filings, media reports, breach notices, or public advisories
- relevant because they explain actor behavior, vulnerability exploitation, or sector impact
Curated news records help connect those cases to eCrime.ch intelligence without forcing them into the tracker as actor claims.
